The Tesla dealership in Tigard, Oregon, experienced a second shooting incident within a week. On March 13, 2025, around 4:15 a.m., more than a dozen shots were fired at the dealership, causing significant damage to vehicles and windows. A security guard present at the time was unharmed.
This follows a previous incident on March 6, 2025, where seven shots were fired, damaging three cars and shattering windows. One bullet penetrated an office wall, striking a computer monitor.
Local authorities are collaborating with federal agencies, including the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, to investigate these incidents. While motives remain unconfirmed, there is awareness of similar politically motivated attacks on Tesla dealerships nationwide.
These events coincide with protests against Tesla and its CEO, Elon Musk, particularly following his advisory role in the Trump administration. Protesters have condemned the violence, emphasizing that such actions undermine their cause. One protester stated, "Violent change does not work. What works is nonviolent, civil protest."
The Oregon Electric Vehicle Association also canceled a scheduled meeting at the dealership due to the shootings, denouncing the violence and expressing support for the dealership staff.
These incidents are part of a broader trend of anti-Tesla vandalism, including arson attacks on Tesla vehicles in Seattle and Europe.
